JOLT has begun rolling out the first free electric vehicle charging stations in
Adelaide
25 March, 2021: ADELAIDE – JOLT, Australia’s first free electric vehicle charging network open to everyone, has today announced it has opened its first 5 charging sites in Adelaide. The locations of the chargers are:
- Klemzig Community Hall
- Corner of Marion and Oaklands Rd, Park Holme
- Port Road and South Road (Northbound) West Hindmarsh
- Corner of Newton and Hambeldon Rd, Newton
With electric vehicle imports surging a massive 485% in February of 2021*, there’s never been more of a need for free, fast charging to help Australians move freely. But while sales might be on the rise, there are still barriers stopping many consumers from entering the market.
‘With EV imports surging in 2021*, there is no better time for us to launch our free fast charge network in Adelaide. With the first sites now live, Adelaide residents can start saving money on the cost of owning an electric vehicle, with the first 7 kWh being free” said Doug McNamee, CEO of JOLT. “Highly visible, fast charging infrastructure is a key piece of the puzzle for widespread adoption of EVs.’
JOLT has partnered with numerous local councils including the City of Charles Sturt, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, Marion City Council and Campbelltown City Council. Each on-street charging station supports both CCS and CHAdeMO plug types, and users can get 7 kWh for free, which is approx. 15 minutes or 45 kilometers of range.
