Ausgrid and JOLT Bring Free, Fast Electric Vehicle Charging to Strathfield

Electric vehicle owners and users now have a second location to enjoy free, fast charging with the launch of an Ausgrid JOLT EV charging station in Strathfield.

It’s the second charging station unveiled this month after a successful unveiling in Mona Vale.

The world-first initiative has transforms existing Ausgrid streetside kiosks into state-of-the-art EV charging stations.

Ausgrid Chief Customer Officer Rob Amphlett Lewis said the community response to the Mona Vale launch proves Sydney residents are embracing an EV future.

“I’m so excited by the feedback we’ve received after just one week of operation. The Mona Vale charger has proved to be very popular and its operation has already saved over 300 litres of petrol,” Mr Amphlett Lewis said.

“Projects like these are key to helping the community make the switch to zero-emissions transport on our roads and we’re able to do it by repurposing existing infrastructure. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

JOLT CEO Doug McNamee said it’s just the beginning of an EV revolution.

“We’re on track to roll out 500 charging kiosks across the Ausgrid network, with Randwick, Hornsby and the Northern Beaches next,” Mr McNamee said.

“In the last 12 months, EV ownership has skyrocketed, almost doubling to 23 thousand new registrations. We’re excited to be able to provide a service that helps solve the major barriers affecting the uptake of EVs including access to charging, cost and range anxiety

“Drivers pull up, plug in and be on their way in 15 minutes, receiving up to 7Kwh free per day, potentials saving over $1000 a year.”
